It has been learned that Nesiphan Kunahun, the mother of the unjustly imprisoned Uyghur scholar Ilham Tohti, who sacrificed his life and freedom for the freedom of his nation, passed away in 2022. For a long time, the CCP prevented the spread of this sad news, and it was only learned by relatives abroad on September 15, 2024.

Ilham Tohti, who devoted his life to defending the basic human rights of Uyghurs, was unjustly sentenced to life imprisonment by the Chinese regime on Srptember 23rd, 2014, despite his opposition to resorting to violence against China’s oppression of Uyghurs and trying to resolve the issue through dialogue and peace.

Since 2017, Ilham Tohti has been held incommunicado and, according to reports, continues to be tortured in solitary confinement in Urumchi prison Number 1, without family visitation. Thus, there is growing international concern about his both physical and health conditions.

Ilham Tohti’s efforts to resolve issues peacefully have been recognized by the international community. He has received more than ten prestigious international awards, including the Sakharov Peace Prize and the Vaclav Havel Human Rights Prize ad a fightet for freedom any justice!

He has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for five years, and in 2024 he has been nominated for the peace prize by more than 200 politicians and academics around the world.
