The Uyghur human rights Issue and the Ilham Tohti Case was first introduced to the Federal Parliament (Bundestag) of Germany on November 4th, 2018 for the “Parliamentary Breakfast“ at the Parliament Building in Berlin. The Gathering was initiated by the Ilham Tohti Initiative e.V. and jointly hosted by Ms Margarete Bause (Greens) and Mr. Michael Brandt of the ruling CDU/CSU Groups.
At the gathering which was attended by more 20 members of the Parliament, the representatives of the German Foreign Ministry and some NGOs, members of the ITI including Mr. Enver Can, Prof. Marie Holzmann, prof. Huan Lopez Manuell and Mr. Ulrich Delius of the GfBV, informed German Parliamentarians about the human rights situation of the Uyghur people and asked them urge China to free prof. Ilham Tohti immediately and unconditionally!
The above meeting had received a strong protest from Chinese Government.
